You're to steer around the potholes, not drive through them.

Rubber-band tires don't offer much protection against wheel damage due to road irregularities, and run-flats are that much harsher in terms of transmitting shock through their firmer sidewalls (thus the shitty ride quality). But, I also think that you may have bought a dud. What was the price of a new wheel from Dan at United BMW?

That said though, as BMW's wheels are TUV certified, I'm surprised that you've got this issue. Which style of 18" wheel are you running?
