Correct. It's the pulling force vs. the twisting forces which is the primary reason as to why studs are advantageous. As is lining up the hub ring to the collar, stud holes etc. etc.

Anyone else interested? If we cant hit 10, no discount :P

The stud is only torques to ~40Nm into the hub then held in there with loctite so it doesn't spin when you want to take a nut off. The nut torques into the wheel at 120Nm which then exerts a pulling force onto the stud (not a twisting/toque force).
