I'm trying to remove the carpet in the rear footwells (the piece begins halfway under front seats and extends to the back seat) because I don't want to cut the carpet to install a bolt-in roll bar which bolts to the floorpan:

Has anyone had experience with this? I found a TIS document describing the removal, but for some reason it says that it involves removing the handbrake lever? I don't see how that matters, but to me it looks like it might require removal of central console?
