Where I live you can get your full deposit back if you haven't sign the bill of sale. Most buyers have no idea about their rights. Nearly 10 years ago, a friend of mine placed an order on a Mazda then changed his mind later. He only got 1/2 if his deposit back because the salesman said they could have sold the car if it wasn't on hold for my friend. Of course that was full of bullshit but he accepted it without knowing his right to have the money back. Many dealers will lie to customers about not being able to have full refund on the deposit or takes very long time to do so. They want to hold your money and hope that you will change your mind about canceling your purchase. Just an old trick to hook buyers without much experience.

OP you should be able to get your money back. I am pretty sure consumers should be protected on this part.
