I've just changed size. Stock of the standard 215/40 and 245/35's was a problem for an extended period so I went for 225/40's and 255/35's which is still within spec. Still run-flat though. Grip is reasonable, but then my rears were smooth as a baby's butt before, so car was all over the place. Still using Bridgestone. One of the fitment centres said they wear quite quickly and recommended Michelin; I got about 25,000km off my first set which is pretty good considering the abuse I put them through. Can't really see that they're wider unless you look closely. They bubble over the rim a little by comparison to stock, but the stock tyres were very narrow by comparison to the rim width.
