The locks on my 128i aren't really locks at all: one lug on each wheel has a special pattern on it (looks like a five-point star with rounded points), which requires a mating "key" with a standard hex pattern for a regular lug wrench or socket.

I've used them before and they're a hassle, particularly if the lug is on really tight: you could damage the lug and/or the key, then you're really screwed.
