think of it like an axleback plus. the backbox bolts in at the end like a normal axleback, but it also has a Y pipe that replaces your resonator. To use it you'd cut out that section and use the included clamps to put it together.
fwiw, plenty of people seem happier with just bolting it up instead of bothering with the cut'n'clamp to replace the resonator on n55's.
