Yes, I'd rather not get into how I went about fully making this work but it can be done if you are just as dissatisfied with the "new" throttle response of the 2.53.X ISTA/P.
Also, burble and popping on overrun is the sign of a healthy engine...
This is a normal thing on MINI Cooper S (youtube r53 burble), from what I understand excess fuel is used on overrun to cool exhaust valves and piston crown and then is ignited on the hot manifold causing burble.
