Already frustrated at how much had to come off to install my SSK, I decided to try and just change the shift lever and new plastic cup. It bolted right up just fine, I could shift into every gear...at least till I started moving.

I now realized why BMW supplies a replacement arm....to give maybe 0.25" clearance to the driveshaft.

Gonna have to drop everything again later this week.
Yeah, I think the new arm is for this reason -and also to keep the "attack" angle into the gearbox similar to standard to stop introducing added notchiness to the gearchange.
