Having owned an E46 M3 I could not have gotten rid of it sooner than I had hoped. It was under warranty when I traded it and while spirited in the sprint was the worst daily driver I ever owned. It was clunky - hated cold weather-like 40 degrees, went through tires like they were paper and the interior leather was weak. I currently own a 135i. IMHO you will get more value for your dollar on a 2009 135i than on any E46 M3 except for the competition package E46 of which few come to market. The comp package put the E46 M3 at a new level - so near the end of production that not too many made it to the US.
