Well you already decided on a 1er But I was just going to say had I not been buying new I would have gotten an e46 m3. I test drove a vert e46m3 as well before i ordered my 1er. Basically I think the e46 m is more raw and less of a daily whereas the 1er is a tad softer in more spots and just all around more friendly but still very fast. Both hold their value very well right now so resale wouldnt be an issue.
Like someone else mentioned before that will be the last great NA engine from them for awhile and it was my fav as well next tto the s38 in the e34 m5. IMHO those 2 engine have the best sounding harmonics of any BMW engine Ive heard. So I wanted the e46 more for nostalgia I guess but took advantage of buying new while I could get a great discount and make it exactly how I wanted
