Boss 302 is a solid car out of the box and in my opinion a better starting point than a 135i for track duty.

That's exactly the point I was making, and why I used quotes with "beat". Even in stock form, most people really aren't hitting their 135i's limits, despite people thinking it's some incapable pig of a car.
