The point is who cares about "after modifications." I don't know about you but I don't know anyone who buys their next car based on what could be done after they drop a few thousand in mods. I'm more concerned with how it performs from factory as my basis.

I have a lot of seat time in both cars. Advanced/instructor level. Lap time have been compared in similar conditions, same tracks, same driver. 135I wins every single time. My friend who still runs e46m3 is slower than my 135i now(equally modded), when we were running almost identical lap times when i had e46.
If you dont care about mods, than you cant run almost any car and be competitive.
