All tires have a release agent on them so they come out of the tire molds when made. This oil takes some miles to "wear off" the outer surface. After say 400 miles the tires feel have much more grip. But at first new tires will feel "soft" and "greasy/slippery". What I mean by "greasy" is that the tires have a lot less grip and seem to have larger slip angles, but after a few hundred miles... they really "come alive".
