If you wanted an "appliance" you shouldn't have bought a BMW. While I've never been stranded in 17 years of driving BMWs, I'm happy to trade rock solid appliance-like reliability for driving dynamics. (And it's one of the reasons our family car is a Japanese make).
That said, I can understand your need to vent on here.
