In short, is there any catch to switching my 135 (or even 325) to this lightweight battery? Any negatives?
There is a reason why BMW uses such a large battery in the 1 and 3 series, for reserve capacity and cold cranking amps. With a smaller battery you will see both of those reduced. However, if you are careful not to run your electrical consumers for hours and don't do a bunch of short 1-2 mile trips, the 21 lb. battery is very good for daily use.

I have done a personal test on a 2011 135i by letting the radio run for a couple of hours, no issues there. Park the car for over 2 weeks, it started right up.
