I took part in a chili cook off benefit for a local fire department. They asked a bunch of local restaurants to enter, with the public voting, but they also asked my sportmen's club. My boss from work, also a member, and I made a huge batch of chili and donated it to the fire department. My hands are still burning 3 days later from the jalapenos. Anyway, we came in 2nd place, we beat out 6 restaurants, and lost to the most popular one in the area. Which I still think was rigged, but whatever.
Oh, the FD asked for us to make 3 gallons... We showed up with 12 gallons. HAHAHA. That is how we roll. I also got to make a huge fire in the pouring rain to heat it up before the competition.
