Quicker maybe, but if they keep limiting the top speed to 155mph like they do in all their other cars, then the original M1 will technically be faster. Top speed in that is 161mph. With the limiter off, obviously it will be faster, but still, the new 1series won't be mid-engined, and won't be considered a "supercar". Its just not the same as it used to be.
BMW needs to get up off their asses and develop a true supercar. Mercedes has one (well, "had" might be more accurate, but the SLR is still considered recent), Audi has one (a few more if you count Lambo), Porsche has a couple. WTF BMW? What are you waiting for?
