Some good questions too, so I'll try to answer them in one post. Here goes:

1) "[They] should have put more soul glow on the tires"
- Yeah, a little overkill there. Oh, well, easily fixed soon enough.

2) "What's the steptronic like to drive?"
- Can't say much after just 80 miles (or should I say "130 km"). Compared to my Mustang (also an auto), it definitely feels less "slushy". But that's only D mode. Haven't tried sport mode yet, and I'm under dealer advice to avoid the paddles during break-in (risk of over-rev). I'll have to issue a "Mike's Step Report" post after 1200 mi.

3) "The best viewing angle? The one behind the steering wheel!"

4) "With all the AW around here, its nice to see a little mix."
- I will also come to AW's defense. I think the lighter colors (AW, TiAg, Cash, BW on the vert) really look good on the 1; they're just not my preference.

5) "What do you think of the leatherette?"
- Pleasantly surprised about that too. Funny story. The first time I ever sat in a BMW (co-worker's new toy), my thought was, "the leather's subpar in these things." Found out later it was actually the 'ette! So far, I like the feel of it, but I'm reserving judgment until I have to sit in it after being in the sun all day.

6) "What boat were you on and was this a priority 1 car?"
- Turandot (docked @ VPC 5/19); yes, P1

7) "Damn you got lucky on the front plate thing."
- Sure did. CA drives an M3; I'd like to think that had something to do with it.

8) "My CA told me it was the first Montego 1 he's seen."
- Mine did too. Hopefully we're not talking about the same CA.

One additional comment for those getting (or considering) the grey poplar trim. It changes personality dramatically depending on light conditions. The pic above was in direct sunlight. But in overcast conditions, it reflects a much darker brown, and IMO fits in much better with the black interior. (Sorry, can't seem to get a good pic of it.) Very interesting so far....

And, yeah, like other posters have mentioned, this car is turning heads. Already more passing drivers slowing down to take a look. Not necessarily a good thing, of course, but just part of the burden of the 1....

[Hey, this post just got me promoted to "member." I'd like to thank the Academy....]
Who was you CA?
