Joe, I've only seen posts about that problem from people who used race pads without attaching the OEM backing plates. Let's see what Chris says. He did mention that he rebuilt his calipers.
I think everyone agrees now that the OEM backing plates are necessary on track, and probably the titanium shims and splash shield mod too if you use race pads.
