I bet you have to remove the intake manifold to get at the engine's serial number. Perhaps that is WHY(?) your BMW zentrum wants so much money to tell you the engine serial number.


IF you are indeed importing a US car into Germany... your gonna really want good documentation. I would just pay your bmw zentrum and have it all documented.


Wait to you go to the TÜV and they zing you for a "complete" TÜV inspection for 200 euros. And then your gonna have the joys of paying some serious import fee's and duty/tax +19%) on the car.
Actually, they only need the engine number, which is what they need. Our cars don't have specific block numbers. Only what is stated —*I rang my dealer in the states and he told me where etc. Easy to get too and 30 min to get to it.

I'm importing to the UK. Waiting now on a letter of compliance. Hopefully that goes well.

Luckily the coding team will be in Stuttgart next week, i'll need to figure out what needs to be done.
