Yes, it's an atrocious design

OP is right. The design of the seatbelt holder is badly exposed to the wind, therefore it makes a lot of noise.

It's simply an atrocious design, like so many other things on the 1. (Water dripping from the side mirrors onto the body or wipers that are damaged if the bonnet is opened while they are retracted come to mind).

@doublevanosrc: this has nothing to do with buckling the seatbelt or not. Besides, whether or not to buckle is each driver's own decision.

@swaite: This isn't at all a "common issue on all verts." My TT didn't do it.

The only solution I see would be to REMOVE it, seatbelt and all. Or perhaps some enterprising third party could mold a plastic deflector that could be put into place around it and reduce the wind noise.
