Is this Ipod cable neccessary? I thought at first that it was required if you wanted to hook up your ipod to the idrive unit etc.
However I tried using just the usb cable (the original cable from apple) and a 2nd generation nano and it works flawlessly. I have full integration with the idrive and can use my steering wheel buttons and the songs, lists, artists, etc all appear on the display.
is this normal? as i am now confused since seeing that some people are requiring the Y cable for integration.
