It doesn't feel spongie - the brakes pedal needs to travel further before it bites, so it shouldn't be air in they system.
When mine had this issue it was immediately after I changed pads rotors and front brake lines.
It felt like the pads were retracting further than they needed to. This issue disappeared after a track day. Perhaps a late nite spirited fang to Noosa through the roundabouts will help. Always makes me feel better
