Angler, Best wishes on your car decision! After extensive test drives I went with the 135is convertible over the 135i or 128i. Comparing the 135i to a heavily optioned 128i, I felt the 135i was a better value overall in that the extra $4K or so buys a car with very different capabilities and a bit of a more muscular look IMHO. 128i is a great ride, no doubt, but the ever-present torque of the turbo motor when matched with a 6SPD (for me at least) manual was just such a joy to test drive.

If you talk yourself into the 135i with the Sport Package, for about the price of the technology package upgrade you can step up to the 135is. 135is won't be everyone's cup of tea, but for me, I thought the extra $2,400 or so bought quite a bit of visual and performance improvements to merit the price. So yes, I fell right into the marketing trap of incremental price increases for better perceived value!
