A little more info on the wheels:
The wheels are made of aluminum sheet metal rolled and then welded together to form a cylinder using "Friction Stir Welding", a patented welding process by pressing a rotating tool into the joint line(see diagram).The welding creates low heat below the melting point which does not alter the aluminum property (the same technology is being applied on Airbus A380s one-piece aluminum wing skin made by joining many small stripes of aluminum sheet using Friction Stir Welding).
Finishing of the outer rim is hand polished to mirror finish.The inner rim is natural matt grey of heat treated aluminum.All centre discs are sand blasted, chemically treated before applying one coat of powder prima, two coating of wet paint then one final clear coating.
All wheels are subjected to VIA certification (Japanese wheel safety testing standard) conducted in-house.
