Big difference between water fording and submerging an engine. In water fording the skid plate and front of the vehicle is pushing the water and the engine is not fully submerged.
Engines, trannies, and diffs are not water tight. Once submerged, hydrostatic pressure will push water through the smallest of openings. As the water level increases, the pressure increases.
