I'm not sure the differences between auto and manual transfer cases. I can't imagine them being any different. There are other options such as Quaife and OS Giken.
Be sure to check your tire pressures. Obviously BMW kind of does this for you already but a few psi can make a big difference and I'm not sure the tolerances for the TPMS.
If you are having problems getting power down starting off, I believe there is a trick for the auto's to start in 2nd that should yield faster 0-60, 0-100 and 1/4 mile times due to the fact that you aren't wasting time shifting from 1st to 2nd.
