The diameter of the wheel hub is 72.6mm and the diameter of center bore of the BMW wheel on the 1M is also 72.6mm therefore no hub ring is required.
My Petrol 18x8 wheels have a center bore diameter of 74.1mm. This means that I have a space of 74.1mm - 72.6mm = 1.5mm that the wheels can be off center when the wheel is attached to the hub. The hub rings come in different sizes. For my situation I need hub rings with outside diameter of 74.1mm and an inside diameter of 72.6mm.
