Obviously, the rim width impacts how the tire fits on the wheel-- sidewall stretch, etc. I understand what you're saying about the wider stance and reduction in unsprung weight. The contact patch might not be affected, but there is a difference in how the tire fits on 8.0 vs 8.5 width. I like to have a fairly "square" wheel/tire package. :smile:
