well today I pulled the caliper off, cleaned it up, replaced the slider pins, lubricated with silicone brake grease.....problem still persists. also, when I had the caliper off, I used a c-clamp to collapse the piston and it went in pretty easily. I was happy because I thought that meant the caliper wasn't seized. but I reassembled it and went for a ride and it wasn't any better, it was still sticking closed. if the piston moved easily, could the caliper still be the problem?? my brake pads still had plenty of meat on them so its not like the piston is extending to its max point either. the rotor has taken a beating though, I may have to replace it.

any other suggestions?? the rubber brake line seemed fine too, I didn't see any bubbles or anything that looked like a problem.

where did that member get the calipers for $100??
