As long as your using proper washing techniques you should be able to wash as much as possible.
I would recommend the "Garry Dean" wash method. This is how I wash my cars now, I also own a Jet Black BMW and have no issues with excessive swirling using this method. I follow this wash method with chemical guys V7 spray detail and have found this to be a great combo.
