While ///M1 is correct and I agree that a non-glossy surface will let the tape adhere easier, have you tested this 3M stuff?! It's crazy strong and it actually adheres to the car which is just as glossy. I've removed it before (had a similar one on my 135i) and man it's just as difficult as removing the oem spoiler.

Either way you decide to go, you have nothing to worry about!!
