It's one of the reasons the ARC-8 was developed in 18x9.5" with a 62mm offset (what the 1 series really needs in the rear). On the em-power you can't fit more then a 255/35, while the ARC-8 can handle a 275, and no other wheel on the market can do that right now until they start to copy their offset.
actually with the 8.5" ET40 you would max out at a 235mm wide tires in the rear. No way a 255 would fit without running -3 (or more) camber in the rear. And I can't see anyone running that much rear camber.
