One key would probably be to make sure that you get to 60 in 2nd gear.
Based on the 128i gearing ratios below, i estimate that the following speeds at 7000rpm (6500rpm)
Manual:
1st - 36.7 (34.1)mph
2nd - 64.4 (59.8)mph
3rd - 95.4 (88.6)mph
Auto:
1st - 33.7 (31.3)mph
2nd - 57.9 (53.8)mph
3rd - 88.5 (82.2)mph
I imagine what kills the 0-60 for the auto is the additional shift that it needs to get to 60mph. Even the manual you really need to hold it all the way to the red line to get to 60 in second gear.
Look on the bright side, your 0-50 time will probably be right there with a manual. :smile:
