No, leatherette will not rip and tear or sag. It will look as good on day #2000 as it did day #1 (I had it on my 2003 Z4 which I kept for 5.5 years).
Yes, leather will crack, (as well as look scuffed and sag after 6 years) - but it probably is more comfortable - I won't know as I'll ALWAYS get leatherette.
