That's the only thing I can think of that would cut down on the rubbing. Suffice to say, at this rate, I wouldn't be surprised to see that rubber worn down pretty quickly. It definitely sounds like it's not just a couple of millimeters, though. It's a pretty strong scrape. It clears under normal conditions, but with any moderate compression of the suspension, it gets loud fast.
