BMW has been offering M-sport packages (M facelift in Germany) for yeaaaars. I had a E39 M facelift.....M steering wheel, deadpedal, body kit, wheels, and M-sport Fahrwerk II (suspension):

**Also notee the side molding...there is a little insert there where the M5 has a
M5 symbol...whereas the facelift version has only a
M symbol...I think that says it all as far as "
officially" what BMW thinks is allowed to be added to
non-M engined cars, oh yeah it also had an lone "
M" emblem on the trunk.**
