Mine was built Jan '09 and did not have the year-one stop/start ring when delivered.
In June of '09 BMW-NA contacted me and told me I was suppose to have the ring on my car because it was built in year-one production. They promptly sent it to me and paid for installation at the local dealership.
I also received the Year one book and certificate.
