My current tire setup is 225/255, so the tires stick out a little bit. A lot of times after detailing my car and taking it out on a drive, I come back home with dirt/dust on the side of the car. I got sick and tired of this, so I figured why not give mud-flaps a try.
I went to my local BMW dealer and asked how much it would cost for parts and labor. My SA quoted me about $400!
So I went to my buddy who works there and he got me the front & rear set for $42 total!
I saw the DIY for mud-flaps and it required using a drill, which I was not comfortable using with my car, so my buddy talked to one of the service guys and I paid him $50 to do it. All in all, I paid about a $100 for the mud-flaps versus the $400 the SA quoted me.
I really like the final result. In my opinion, the flaps really add to the look of the car, given that my car is black, they really blend in. Best of all, no more dirt on the sides of the car!
