Yeah i drove a manual & an auto 135i at a local dealership. It is a very impressive car no doubt's and quicker in a straight line than the Golf but at the end of the day a few things helped me with my decision.

Firstly the fact that the Golf has 5 doors, i kept telling myself 2 doors would be fine but with 2 young kids i think that eventually it would become a pain.

Secondly for the price of a pretty well specced up Golf R i could of really only been able to afford a 2008 135i. That would mean only approx 1 year left of the warranty and on a car i plan on keeping for at least 5 years that may become an issue.

Then there was insurance, was getting quotes of double that of the R due to the 135i being a '2dr sports coupe'
Enjoy the new wheels when they arrive, I'm sure it'll be an enjoyable ride
