I have heard that the DWS is a great tire, just a soft sidewall. If I can use a 235/40 instead of a 225/40 the load rating increases quite a bit which should firm up the sidewall a bit.

It is only the fronts that will be close. I have 225/40/ 18 all around with a similat offset and they easily clear the suspension and just clear the wheel well. As it would be only an increase of 5mm each side, it would probably work.
