Here is the BEST method I've found.
Buy some 1/4 thick felt with an adhesive back. (Think of what you would use to deaden the sound of a cabinet door slamming shut, they sell this stuff at the hardware stores.)
Put a strip or a few pieces just under the hinge of the armrest (the console side, not under the armrest itself. I'll post a pic later of what I'm talking about.
If you did it right, the armrest - where the hinge is - will sit on this felt piece which will raise the armrest a few mm and help deaden any vibration sounds.
