No SMG and DCT are different animals, the SMG was a single shaft, single clutch, electronic clutch engagement gearbox. The DCT is a twin concentric shaft, dual clutch, electronic clutch engagement gearbox. The DCT will appear to shift more smoothly than the SMG for folks who are used to automatics. (The trick to making an SMG feel smooth is to lift throttle a bit between shifts.)
