That gunk is alge that grows and gathers in the smaller orifices of the system. Cheap stuff does that as its more water then cleaner deicer. BMW stuff is very powerful and tends to have much more alcohol in it to kill just about anything
Lucky you caught it most people keep trying the washer and burn up the pump.
