I've always had Garmins, currently have an old StreetPilot 2600 - chunky, but very rugged and first class user friendliness. Excellent rural coverage with heaps of small fire trails mapped. Leaves my i-drive Pro Nav for dead.
The Garmin nuvi models are nice, but I don't plan updating as I keep my maps up to date.
You can't go wrong with Navman, Tom Tom, etc I'm sure.
