Honestly to me this is a psychological thing... I live in philly not far from the orig. poster at all and I waited until beginning of jan to put on snows.... I just kept telling myself "oh you will be fine it doesn't snow much, it never gets THAT cold"... just b/c I didn't feel like shelling out the cash... but eventually I realized that I needed to stop being cheap and accept the fact the ride SUCKED... even on perfectly clear days but when the temp was below 40... that and the fact when I hit 70+ MPH I could feel the grip just getting lost...

And after I got the snows on, I was in SHOCK at what I was putting myself through riding around on the run craps in the freezing temps...

So long story short... it's worth it to get the winter tires no matter how much you "feel" like you don't need them if you live in an area where temps get cold and snow can hit...
