Nurburgring Trip
A college and I are going to be in Europe and I'm wanting to spend a weekend in Germany (9th & 10th July), primarily to drive the Ring.
I've never been so would appreciate any advice and recommendations of things to see, do, avoid. I've always read Dackel's & Artemis' trips and it's been a dream to make this happen. I have a small opportunity to tick this box. I've looked at rsr & rent4ring as possible options to rent a car. I haven't figured out where to stay yet. If we fly into Frankfurt should I base myself there to look around or would you recommend other towns to stay or visit? Much appreciate input from fellow 1M owners. |

Motorsport hotel is another family run business right on top of the ring. Don't stay outside of nurburg other than maybe adenau which is the town by the halfway point. It's all about the buzz of being close to the action. Lots of friendly car enthusiasts all in one place. 😎

Rent4Ring were fantastic, highly recommended.
We hired the Scirocco's and 120's. Well setup cars with half cage, semi slicks, brakes, good seats, harnesses etc. Everything you need, and reasonably priced too. Much better than getting a pure road car. |

Thanks everyone, I've reached out to Rent4Ring and booked the restaurant for the evening on Sunday.
I can't seem to find the BMW Ring taxi, is it still operating? On a BMW website they no longer sell tickets but are honouring any existing tickets. Are they wrapping it up? |

Best money you'll spend! It's actually what drove me to take the plunge on an ///M in the end as we had an E90 M3 as our taxi. Amazing experience! |

Have fun! I rented a car and instructor through RSR Nurburg in 2014 and had a great experience. Raining, no traffic, french instructor yelling at me all the way around to keep it floored through fog and blind corners. Wife in the back seat pretending to have fun. Quite the memorable experience.
Best piece of advice I got: rent the slowest car they have. YOU will by far be the limiting factor, and a fast car only gives you more to worry about. Takes hundreds of laps to learn the track well enough to push the limits of any reasonable car, even the Twingo I drove. |

Thanks everyone for all your advice, we had a great day at the track.
Highly recommend Rent4Ring and having a low powered car is definitely what you want as a first timer. I think I spent more time looking in my mirrors avoiding Porsche's than focusing on a line. The ring taxi with Dale at the end of the day was amazing, such a fun drive and he makes it look so easy. Some photos of the day: This was like a sign to me ... I was in the process of selling my BSM 1M having placed an order on an LBB M2. Didn't look too out of place compared to some others ... Anyone here? Not often you get to see one of these ... So I saw two Our taxi And our driver! Beautiful e30 M3 ... and a motorbike crash in the background A nice toy Something I'd like to own one day We stopped here for lunch And one final pic before we depart I loved driving on the autobahn's, definitley a nice way to travel. Our Jaguar 2.0D max'ed out at 234km/h (with alittle help from gravity), we got time to visit the Porsche & Mercedes museums before having to fly out. A short but immensely fun experience, definitely will be back to drive the track again. |

Congratulations!
The 'Ring is a special, special place. No where else like it on Earth. I popped my 'Ring cherry back in '05. Have been back 4x since, including when i picked up my Ruf, broke her on in the Autobahn and did her first trackday at the 'Ring! I have a big trip planned for next month with some driving buddies, some of whom are first timers. Both RentRaceCar and RSR Nurburg are great companies to rent from. RSR seems to get all the attention coz they have the nicest stable of cars. I'm also doing Spa on the 27th, with RSR. That will be my first time. So excited. Anyone at either Spa that day, or the 'Ring on the weekend of the 16th? Always good to make new friends!

Thanks for the pics! This is on my bucket list . . . When I have a chance to go there, I will also be renting a car since I live on the wrong continent. I don't think I could survive in a hatchback though. Bare minimum for me would be something like a 128i, BRZ/FRS or similar. That is what I consider a serviceable "low power" car.

Too bad they don't sell it here in my country. I'd be all over that! One of the most fun cars i've ever tried on that track!
