Meet Me on the Road

Alright guys, don't hate me, but I'm about 10 days away from taking delivery of "my" 135i. I say it that way because I'll have the use of a 135i for a year as a long-term/project vehicle, and I'm getting an early-production press vehicle that we'll be taking away from an upcoming press event. This has been more than a year in the making, and I still can't believe it's actually happening.

I will be picking up the car the morning of the 15th in Monterey, CA and along with a co-worker will be driving the car back to our Chicago office over the course of 4 days. Full details are listed here.



Anyway, I'm really hoping some of you guys will be able to meet up with me on the way home, either at one of our planned stopovers or on the road somewhere.

We'll be in Santa Monica/West LA on the night of the 15th (we're still sorting out a place to gather in the evening), Flagstaff the night of the 16th, and Oklahoma City the night of the 17th. Aside from LA, I know these stops aren't exactly in BMW's sweet spot, but if you're close I hope you'll make the effort to stop by and say "Hi."

For those of you who aren't on the route, we plan on doing daily videos from the road that we'll host on YouTube overnight. There will be updates on MWerks, and I'll drop links here too so you can check in.

If I don't reply to this thread immediately in the next couple days, it's because I'll be busy at the Chicago Auto Show. I'm hoping to catch up with ATR_hugo and Chris Kurn while there as well.

If you go through Santa Barbara, CA..... you should stop for a bit and take a break at a certain time and location :thumbup:

Will absolutely be passing through SB. Probably early afternoon-ish on the 15th, depending on traffic on PCH. If you can recommend a place to stop off for a quick break around that time, I'll be there.:thumbup:

PLease stop by Santa Monica on your way down PCH and let me poke my nose around that 135!! I'm in Los Angeles, but I work in Santa Monica. I'm sure you can stop for a photo op near the beach. Just let me know what time ;-)

Will definitely be hanging out in Santa Monica Friday evening. May head over near Hollywood & Vine later, where a friend of mine runs a bar. I'll let you know what we figure out for a meet-up location.

Nope, LA the night of the 15th. We take off for Flagstaff early AM on the 16th.

Just wanted to share a couple quick updates.

On Friday the 15th, we've chosen to do a gathering at Santa Monica Beach in the north lot (immediately north of the pier). We'll be down there from about 7 PM and will stick around for at least a couple hours before we head back to the hotel.

Still pulling together final arrangements for our stop in Flagstaff. We have a friend on the ground there making those plans and will have an update in the next day or so.

Mikeo- we'll be passing through Santa Fe and would love to meet up with you. Perhaps we can stop in on you for lunch somewhere?
