JB4 Info

Does anyone have a JB4? if so, could you tell me is it really that good? I've been wanting one for a while now but i am worried it is too good to be true. does it have any draw backs? I heard that after a while it does significant spark plug damage. is this true?

Search. That said, it's good. Yes it has draw backs, but these are more subject to personal opinion. For example some dislike that it's a piggy back instead of a flash. For others, this is a plus, not a drawback.

No it doesn't 'damage' the spark plugs. You may need to upgrade your spark plugs with some tunes as the stock plugs are no longer suitable, but if you take a stock N54 or N55 and toss a JB4 in there, you're really only running Map 1, and the stock plugs will be fine.

It is way too good to be true. Unfortunately, there is hardly any information on the whole interwebs about jb4 or even BMWs that you can search for.

I've ran JB products since they were released back in 07'. I have nothing but love for them.

Have ran on mulitple cars, have had zero problems putting over 100k miles across 3 Differnt cars and differnt piggybacks. Track, drag, autoX...Zero problems. So, all in all I dont think I will ever take jb4 outta my car. The gauge hacking and other features are too great. The only other step I would think about taking would be a back end flash to help/finish off the jb4 .

IMO the best tune u can get next to a custom tune for your car.

Don't know if that's what u were asking. But all info can be found of n54tech.com. More then u would ever want to know and more can be found on there. Terry (the owner) is quite a genius.

I just got my JB4 on this weekend and I'm still experimenting, but I do like the options and install was really easy. I didn't even chip a nail.

Maybe that should be the new installation slogan, so easy you won't even chip a nail, have your wife do it!

I recently replaced the turbos on my 135i, rebuild/upgrade from Turbo Lab of America. After a week of driving and making sure I didn't have any issues, I plugged in my used JB4. Holy Hell did it make one helluva difference! As it turns out my car seems to have had a back end flash of some sort (targeting 15psi on map1). But the difference with the JB4 is phenomenal. I was laughing like a lunatic after my first 3rd gear pull from 40mph in the car, on map1. The performance aspect aside, it is nice to be able to see what the car is doing with the logging features (USB Data Cable encouraged or if JB4 G5, I'd say try the bluetooth connection). The gauge hijacking features are really cool, especially with the stealth setting. All in all, I'm impressed with it and plan to upgrade my unit in the future.

I think the damage you are seeing is coming from installs with higher mileage components already.
